Ahead of the likely assembly polls in Jammu Kashmir, the administration has announced a significant reshuffling of twenty one (21) senior police officers.
As detailed in Government Order No. 361-Home of 2024, dated 15 August 2024, accessed by The Kashmiriyat, this reshuffle, which is effective immediately, involves the transfer and posting of various officers to different key positions across the state.
Gurinderpal Singh, an IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre (2013 batch), has been moved from his current role as AIG (P&T) at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) to the position of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Baramulla.
Meanwhile, Nagpure Amod Ashok, also from AGMUT 2013, has been transferred from his position as SSP Baramulla to take over as SSP Udhampur.
Armitpal Singh, an IPS officer from the 2014 AGMUT cadre, has been reassigned from Commanding Officer (CO) IR-2 to SSP (Tech) at the CID Headquarters.
In another move, Mumtaz Ahmed, an AGMUT 2014 officer, has been transferred from CO 1 Border Battalion, Jammu, to SSP Poonch, replacing Yougal Kumar Manhas.
Additionally, Mohd Aslam, another AGMUT 2014 officer, has been reassigned from CO JKAP-13 to SSP Doda, taking over from Javid Iqbal, who will await further postings at PHQ.
Sandeep Gupta, an AGMUT 2015 officer, has been transferred from SSP Ganderbal to AIG (Tech) PHQ, replacing Wasim Qadri, who will now take over as SSP Ganderbal.
Anuj Kumar, an officer from the 2016 AGMUT cadre, has been moved from SSP Ramban to CO IR-11.
Simultaneously, Ms. Tanushree, an IPS officer from AGMUT 2017, has been reassigned from SSP Shopian to SP SIA Kashmir, replacing Gaurav Sikarwar, who will now serve as SSP Reasi.
In a series of further changes, Anayat Ali Choudhary from AGMUT 2017 has been transferred from SSP Kathua to SSP Shopian, while Ms. Mohita Sharma, another AGMUT 2017 officer, has been shifted from SSP Reasi to AIG (Prov) PHQ.
Ms. Deepika, an IPS officer from the 2018 AGMUT cadre, has been reassigned from SP SIA Jammu to SSP Kathua, and Gaurav Sikarwar, AGMUT 2019, has been moved from SP SIA Kashmir to SSP Reasi.
Kulbir Singh, an officer from the JKPS 1999 batch, has been transferred from CO IR-11 to SSP Ramban, and Joginder Singh, also from the JKPS 1999 batch, has been moved from SSP Udhampur to SSP Jammu.
Ashok Kumar Sharma, under orders of transfer to SSP Security, J&K, has now been posted as CO 1 Border Battalion, Jammu, replacing Mumtaz Ahmed.
In other key movements, Wasim Qadri from the JKPS 2001 batch has been reassigned from AIG (Tech) PHQ to SSP Ganderbal, while Yougal Kumar Manhas, also from JKPS 2001, has been moved from SSP Poonch to SSP SIA Jammu
Tahir Geelani from JKPS 2002, who was awaiting posting, has now been assigned as AIG (Procurement) PHQ.
Additionally, Ms. Shaheen Wahid from the JKPS 2004 batch has been transferred from Dy.CO 1 Women Battalion, Jammu, to SSP Telecom Jammu.
Lastly, Sandeep Bhat from JKPS 2011 has been moved from Addl. SP Bandipora to Addl. SP Udhampur, while Baljeet Singh, also from JKPS 2011, has been reassigned from Addl. SP Udhampur to Addl. SP Nowshera.
These transfers and postings are part of a strategic effort to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force in the region, ensuring that key positions are occupied by officers with the requisite experience and skills to maintain law and order.
All officers affected by these orders are expected to take up their new assignments immediately.
