The District administration of Kishtwar has seized and sealed two Madrassas (Islamic educational institutes) for Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) violations, Daily Excelsior reported.
This is the third Madrassa being sealed the admin in less than a month. Earlier a madrassa was shut in Jammu’s Bathindi area.
Following directions from the Home Department of J&K, orders were issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav to take over the Madrassa namely Ashraf-ul-Aloom and RPI academy (falling in Khasra number 317) in Tatani Saroor, Kishtwar which was being run by Maulana Ali Mia Nadwi, Educational Charitable Trust (MAMNECT), Bathindi, Jammu.
Consequently, notice was served to Mohd Shafi, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Tatani Saroor, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kishtwar which directed him to immediately handover the possession of the building of Madrassa namely Ashraf-ul-Aloom and RPI academy to District Administration Kishtwar through Tehsildar Drabshalla, who was directed to take over the possession of the building and seize and seal it.
When contacted, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar informed that it was part of action by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for FCRA violations.
DC Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav informed that two Madrassas were sealed on July 4, 2023 in Drabshalla area for FCRA violations.
SSP Kishtwar Khalil Ahmed Poswal said that two Madrassas run by a Jammu based group were sealed two days back as part of action against some illegal financial transactions.
“No arrest has been made in this regard as it was an action on part of civil administration,” he said, as per the newspaper.
