On Monday, inhabitants of Dangerpora, Eidgah in Srinagar said that it was for the first time in past several decades that snow remained uncleaned from roads, streets, lanes after heavy snowfall.
The Kashmiriyat spoke to locals of the area and they said that it was for the first time that the snowfall led to the chaos here for more than three days as it seems that the administration was in deep slumber and had taken no prior steps to tackle the situation in the aftermath of snowfall. The locals of the area alleged that the administration was incompetent and ignorant in clearing roads and restoring normalcy.
According to the civilians, they have made multiple efforts to call and let the administration responsible for snow clearance know about their struggle, but no one from the operating section has replied to their said queries.
The snow clearance process was delayed as the administration remained focused towards buying modern machinery for snow clearance and because they could not contact anyone responsible for the said deed, the locals took upon themselves to look after the trouble.
They spoke to The Kashmiriyat and said that after the municipal administration failed to reply, the locals contributed and invested in private methods and machineries for collective benefit of the locality and cleared the snow on their own, as the administration failed to bereave them.
