
The administration has revoked the security cover for numerous prominent figures, including political leaders, former judges, police officers, and some journalists.
An order from the SSP Srinagar’s office indicates that security has been withdrawn for 57 VIPs.
This list includes politicians, retired police officers, judges, bureaucrats, and a few journalists.
This decision was made during the State Level Committee’s review on March 30, 2024.
Notable individuals who have lost their security cover include former IPS officer Munir Ahmad Khan, now a member of the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission; Junaid Mattoo, former Mayor of Srinagar; former Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir; retired Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir; retired IAS officer and current NC leader Farooq Ahmad Shah; former MP Sharif Din Shariq; former MLA Mohammad Shafi Uri; and former ministers Javed Mustafa Mir, M. Ashraf Mir, and Imran Raza Ansari.
