One of the longest encounters in the recent past has been officially declared over in the Babagund area of Langate in North Kashmir’s Kupwara.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 22RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF laid a siege in the area following specific inputs about Militant movement in the area.

The Militants opened fire upon forces at around 12 am on Friday.
In the ensuing gunfight, five Government Force personnel and two Militants were killed.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the bodies of Militants have been recovered from the site of the encounter.
Intense clashes have also erupted near the site of the encounter.
