Air Transport Resumes in Kashmir after 4 Day Halt

The air-traffic to and fro Kashmir has been restored in the Kashmir valley on Thursday after remaining temporarily suspended due to snowfall in the valley for four days.

“All preparation is done, We are ready for tomorrow’s flight operation @Aaisnrairport. Request to all passengers, Take flight status update with concern airlines and approach to Srinagar airport before time to avoid the rush,” tweeted Srinagar Airport.

“The first flight has landed at Srinagar Airport this morning. The flight is scheduled to leave for Delhi soon,” said an Airport Authority of India official.

The air traffic between Srinagar airport, the only civilian airport in Kashmir, and the rest of the country were suspended on Sunday due to snowfall which continued till Wednesday.

“Witnessing heavy snowfall, currently, Srinagar is under a thick layer of snow leading to the cancellation of flights since 3rd Jan’21. #AAI’s Srinagar @Aaisnrairport is working actively for public relief & has signed an MoU with Beacon, a company for snow removal from apron area,” SA wrote in another tweet. Inputs from PTI
