All Eyes on Farooq Abdullah as he Reaches Parliament, ‘Keen to Pick up Issue of Abrogation of Article 370’ say Party Sources

As the monsoon session of the Indian Parliament commences on Monday, all eyes remain on the National conference president and the Member Parliament, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who is the parliamentarian for the Srinagr Lok Sabha seat from Jammu Kashmir.

The former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah has already arrived in Delhi to attend the much awaited Monsoon Session of Parliament starting today. This is his first visit to his national capital after removing most of the provisions of Article 370 from Jammu Kashmir.

The president of the National Conference was in custody during the last two sessions.

On August 5 last year, the Jammu Kashmir Reorganization Bill was tabled in Parliament and the 82-year-old leader was booked under the Public safety act.

Sources within the National Conference told The Kashmiriyat that Farooq Abdullah is keen to raise the Jammu Kashmir issue during this session. The monsoon session starting from Monday will last for 18 days.

Farooq Abdullah has been vocal regarding the revocation of the Articles 370 and 35 A, after he was released post his PSA orders were revoked by the Jammu Kashmir admin in April 2020.

Media reports suggest that restrictions have been placed around the parliament and the entry of media has been restricted too.

A corona test has been conducted for all MPs and their families before the session. All MPs have been sent a kit of sanitizer, mask, gloves and other health protection related material. All officers and employees of Parliament have also been tested. Covid test facility will be available in the campus during the monsoon session.
