The first batch of Amarnath pilgrims that arrived at Yatri Niwas Pantha Chowk in Srinagar district on Wednesday was welcomed by district administration Srinagar, Srinagar DDC chairman, SMC Mayor and several others and assured them all possible support.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that DC Srinagar, Aijaz Ada’s, SSP Srinagar Rakesh Balwal, DDC chairman, vice-chairman, SMC Mayor Junaid Matoo and DDC member Er Aijaz Hussain were present on the occasion.
He said that the officials and other dignitaries welcomed the pilgrims with open heart and interacted with them.
“District administration shared information about the facilities available for the pilgrims including helpline numbers and availability of transport facilities for them,” he added.
The official said that the pilgrims also shared their experience and stated that this year a record number of devotees are expected to arrive in Kashmir to have glimpse of lord Shiva.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC member Er Aijaz while welcoming the pilgrims assured them of all kinds of support.
SMC Mayor, Junaid Azim Matoo also extended full support to pilgrims on behalf of SMC, while officials from district administration and DDC members promised hassle-free stay of pilgrims in Srinagar.
The official said that later, DC Srinagar Aijaz Asad, DDC vice-chairman Bilal Ahmed, Aijaz Hussain visited Yatri Niwas to take stock of facilities and visited langar facility as well.
