The third batch of 6,411 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left the Jammu base camp early Friday morning under heightened security arrangements.
Officials said the pilgrims moved in two separate convoys, one heading for Baltal and the other for Pahalgam, to continue their journey to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine nestled in the Himalayas.
A total of 291 vehicles were used for the transportation, including buses, medium motor vehicles, light motor vehicles, and two-wheelers. Security forces and medical teams accompanied the convoys to ensure safe and smooth passage through the route.
This batch comprised 4,723 male pilgrims, 1,071 female pilgrims, 37 children, along with 487 sadhus and 93 sadhvis.
Of the total, 2,789 pilgrims were on the Baltal route, while 3,622 chose the Pahalgam route.
Tight security measures have been enforced across the route, with personnel from police, CRPF, ITBP, and other paramilitary forces deployed to facilitate the yatra.
The 38-day pilgrimage began on July 3 and is scheduled to conclude on August 9.
