Various areas in the Kashmir valley lack basic amenities making people suffer immensely. One such area where dilapidated roads have been a constant issue faced the by locals is Amberpora to Haritar in Sopore. The dilapidated condition of roads in the Sopore area of district Baramulla, including Amberpora to Haritar road, is giving tough time to the commuters.
Talking to The Kashmiriyat, the local residents said, “The road from Amberpora to Tarzoo has been in a shabby condition for decades. About ten thousand passengers move on this road daily. But the condition of the road is such that no vehicle can ply on it. There are holes in the road at continuous distances which causes high chances of accidents.”
They said that people from different professions including businessmen, office staffs, school going students and other passers-by are in great danger due to the bad condition of the road.
The residents alleged that they repeatedly brought the matter to the notice of the concerned authorities, but no action was taken on the ground, except assurances.
Locals complained that, the road stretch from Amberpora to Haritar, considered a priority road is in shambles. “The road is dotted with potholes which speaks volumes about the tall claims of the government of improving road connectivity,” the residents said.
The road connects vital areas from Sopore to Srinagar,Ganderbal ,Bandipora and Baramulla.
“We urge the J&K Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to maintain the roads and properly macadamize them before the snowfall of this season,” the residents told The Kashmiriyat.
