Over the past two days, U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria have faced at least five attacks, as Iranian-backed militias continue their nearly month-long campaign in support of Hamas’ fight against Israel.
On Tuesday, the most recent rocket attack targeted Mission Support Site Euphrates in Syria, resulting in no injuries or damage to the base.
Earlier on Tuesday, one-way drones targeted the air base in Irbil, Iraq.
Iranian-backed militias had previously targeted Irbil Air Base on Monday and launched two attacks on U.S. forces near Tall Baydar in Syria.
Fortunately, none of these attacks caused injuries or damaged infrastructure. U.S. military officials have observed an increase in such attacks, with at least 40 attacks by Iranian-backed militias reported since October 17.
These attacks have targeted both U.S. forces in Iraq and U.S. bases and personnel in Syria, resulting in injuries to 46 U.S. troops, including 25 diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Most of these injuries are described as minor, with 40 of the injured service members returning to duty.
