Amid ongoing heatwave, School timing changed in Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir administration has changed the school timings in the valley amid the ongoing heatwave that has swept across the region.

In an official communique school education department ordered, In response to numerous requests from parents and stakeholders, and considering the ongoing heatwave, the School Education Department has issued a new directive concerning school timings in the Kashmir Division.

“Effective immediately, all Government and Recognized Private Schools, including those up to the Higher Secondary level, will adjust their class hours to 8:00 am to 1:00 pm,” the order read.

This change applies to both rural and urban areas.

“Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff are required to attend their duties from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.”

This revised schedule will remain in place until August 10, 2024.

The school education department said that the decision is based on current weather forecasts predicting continued high temperatures.
