Srinagar, on Monday, reported higher temperatures than Jammu, with the mercury reaching 35.6°C, 4.9°C above the normal for this time of year.
This trend of elevated temperatures is evident across the Kashmir valley, where Qazigund, Kupwara, and Kokernag also recorded significantly above-normal temperatures.
Specifically, Qazigund hit 34.0°C, 5.9°C above normal, Kupwara matched Srinagar at 35.6°C, and Kokernag reached 33.5°C, 6.0°C above normal.
Other areas in the valley experienced similar heat, including Anantnag and Pulwama at 34.4°C each, and Shopian at 34.7°C.
In contrast, Jammu saw a slightly lower temperature of 35.5°C today. Other notable temperatures include Katra at 32.2°C, Banihal at 31.4°C, and Batote at 28.8°C.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that the hot and humid conditions will persist across Jammu and Kashmir through July 26, with no significant weather changes expected.
From July 21 to 26, the weather is predicted to be mainly clear to partly cloudy, with brief spells of rain and thunderstorms in isolated to scattered areas of the Kashmir division, and in scattered to fairly widespread areas of the Jammu division.
From July 27 to 31, expect partly to generally cloudy skies with intermittent light to moderate rain and thunderstorms affecting many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
