A vegetable shop was gutted in a fire incident in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday afternoon, a vegetable shop located in the main market of Czawalgam caught fire, however, due to the timely intervention of Fire and Emergency services the fire was stopped from spreading any further.
He said that the shop belonging to a local Sheeraz Ahmed Kumhar of Czawalgam was damaged in the fire incident.
The immediate cause of the fire is not know yet.
Pertinently, fire incidents have been on a rise in the Kashmir valley. 2500 fire incidents were recorded in Kashmir valley from January 01 to December 31. During these fire incidents, a total of 1700 structures were damaged and 37 persons lost their lives.
Figures provided by Jammu Kashmir’s Fire & Emergency Services claimed that property worth billions of rupees including residential houses, business establishments, and religious centers were gutted in the fire during the last year.
