Mohammed Amin Malik, the brother of a slain Militant killed during an encounter in 2019 in the Tral, has been trapped after he tried to snatch the rifle of a Government Force personnel inside a SOG camp in the Tral belt of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday afternoon.
A resident of the Nagbal area of Tral, Amin’s brother Shabir Ahmed Malik who was an associate of Zakir Musa’s Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind (AGH), was killed during an encounter with government forces on 26 June 2019. As per officials, Shabir was the spokesman of AGH.
The Jammu Kashmir Police said that Mohammed Amin Malik, after snatching weapons during questions from police has fired several rounds from a room inside the camp. “Efforts are underway to persuade him to surrender. His mother and other family members have been brought to convince him,” the officer said, adding, “He has fired few rounds from inside the room.”
The Jammu Kashmir Police said that it is trying to persuade Amin to surrender.
Amin, Sources told The Kashmiriyat, was arrested by Joint Forces including 42 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and 180 Battalion of CRPF during a raid on May 23, in a Militancy related case, a claim denied by the family.
The Government Forces claimed to have recovered arms, ammunition, and suspected explosive material from the residential house of, Mohammed Amin Malik, during a cordon and search operation in the Machama area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The Police said that during search operation forces recovered one binocular, one 12 bore rifle (unlicensed), 10 rounds of 12 bore, suspected explosive materials (Gun powder approx, 50 gms, bleaching powder like substance-about 1 kg, iron/steel ball bearings-approx 250- 300gms), 9 feature mobile phones, one combat pouch and
one weapon sling.
Meanwhile as per latest reports, a few gunshots were heard from inside the SOG camp where Amin is believed to be trapped.
