Anantnag police crack down on drug peddling, four arrested in separate raids

In a major crackdown on drug peddling, District Police Anantnag arrested four individuals in separate operations and seized heroin-like substances from their possession.

In the first incident, Khushbu Jan, a resident of Bangidar, was apprehended near Bangidar Bridge with seven grams of a heroin-like substance. Police have registered FIR No. 100/2025 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Anantnag.

In another case, two individuals identified as Nargis, a resident of Bawana JJ Colony in Delhi, and Mohammad Irfan from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested with three grams and six grams of heroin-like substances, respectively. FIR No. 104/2025 has been lodged at Police Station Anantnag.

In a third operation, police arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam of Saidwara, Dooru Shahabad, with six grams of a similar substance. A case under FIR No. 105/2025 has been registered.

The raids were conducted by SHO Anantnag, Majid Hussain, and his team. “District Police Anantnag remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges the general public to come forward with any information related to drug abuse or peddling in their areas. Together, we can build a safer and drug-free society,” SHO Majid said.

Locals have expressed their gratitude to SHO Majid Hussain and the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their relentless efforts in controlling the growing menace of drugs in the region. Many see these actions as a hopeful sign towards building safer communities.
