In yet another suicide blast near a Sunni mosque, two were killed and several others injured during the Friday prayers near Doaba police station in Hangu city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.
An official of the police said that two bodies and five injured were recovered from the debris, while operation is underway to rescue the remaining stuck inside the pile of rubble.
Located near the police station, this was a small mosque with a capacity of 70 people.
This is the second blast in a single day as a suspected suicide bombing resulted in the killing of around 52 people and injuring dozens during an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in Balochistan’s Mastung city.
According to the SHO of the police station, a loud explosion occurred during the second sermon of the Friday prayer, which collapsed a certain part of the mosque.
According to initial reports, many people were buried under the debris as a rescue operation was underway.
The local authorities imposed an emergency in the District Hospital Hangu while the security forces arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.
