Days after a prostitution racket was busted in Srinagar’s Baghe Mehtab area, another similar racket has been busted in Srinagar’s Nowgam area.
Six persons have been arrested in this regard by the Police.
On 3rd April, Jammu Kashmir police on busted a prostitution racket in Srinagar which was being run from a rented accommodation at Bagh-e-Mehtab area of the capital city of Kashmir.
Two persons running this racket were arrested and later booked under the Public Safety Act. The Police them as Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pampore and Mohd Shafi Hajam of Karimabad Pulwama. Four sex workers (all locals of Srinagar) and two customers were also detained during the raid conducted by Police.
During the course of investigation launched under an FIR registered at Chanapora PS of Srinagar, it came to the forth that another similar prostitution racket in Nowgam area of Srinagar.
The Police conducted raids at the Nowgam area during which Shabir Mir of Charlipora Nowgam, his wife Shazia Mir and Adil Gulzar Hazar of Soura were arrested on spot for operating this racket
Two customers and a sex worker also detained, Police said.
