Apple unveils iPhone Air and iPhone 17 series with thinner design, A19 chip, and AI-powered cameras

Apple has officially unveiled its latest iPhone lineup, led by the all-new iPhone Air, now the thinnest iPhone ever, replacing the previous Plus models. The launch focuses on sleek design, energy efficiency, and seamless integration within the Apple ecosystem, rather than revolutionary changes.

The iPhone Air features a redesigned camera plateau that smartly houses the cameras, chipset, and system modules, while leaving room for a high-density battery that delivers all-day usage. Powered by AI-enhanced photography and advanced battery optimization software, the iPhone Air offers performance comparable to larger Pro models without compromising portability.

Hardware upgrades across the new lineup include the Apple A19 chip, a 48MP main camera, brighter Super Retina XDR displays, and improved power efficiency. The iPhone 17 Pro sees a price increase to $1,099, supported by a Ceramic Shield casing on both sides, upgraded RAM, and enhanced chips. Apple has also introduced new accessories including a cross-body strap and an updated MagSafe battery pack for more versatile usage.

Analysts from Wedbush highlight that approximately 315 million iPhone users globally are using devices over four years old, signaling a huge upgrade potential. Wedbush forecasts Apple’s revenue to rise from $391 billion in 2024 to $431 billion by 2026, with earnings per share (EPS) increasing from $6.75 to $7.85 in the same period.

Alongside the iPhone Air, Apple launched the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, all featuring the A19 chip, 48MP cameras, and larger, brighter displays that remain visible even in direct sunlight. In India, the new lineup will come in multiple storage options and fresh color variants, with pre-orders expected to open soon.

To navigate rising tariffs in China, Apple is increasing iPhone production in India, a move Wedbush estimates could impact earnings by $1 billion in the September quarter. At the same time, Apple faces intensifying competition from local smartphone brands and economic pressures that may affect market share in China.

With the launch of the slimmer, smarter iPhone Air and the high-performance iPhone 17 series, Apple is positioning itself for growth while catering to a global audience of long-time iPhone users looking to upgrade.
