Army pays tribute to trooper killed in Anantnag encounter

The Indian Army today, paid tribute to Lance Naik Nishan Singh, who was killed on 16 Apr 2022, in the Watnar area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district during Gunfight between militants and Indian army.

In a press release, the Indian Army said, In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen DP Pandey, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldier on behalf of the proud Nation.

While the initial cordon was being laid, militants opened heavy fire on Cordon party. Unmindful of his own safety, Lance Naik Nishan Singh, who was part of the initial cordon party, Nishan retaliating in returning fire and in doing so sustained a Gun Shot Wound on his chest.

He was immediately evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, where he was declared dead by medical team.

“Braveheart Lance Naik Nishan Singh, 29 yr old son of sewaa singh mothers name Prakash Singh hails from Village– Bhaudin, District- Sirsa in Haryana.Nishan Singh left behind his parents his wife, four married sisters and a brother namely Khatana Singh. He got married before two months and resume his duty at Kokernag in Charlie Company of Sikhli Regiment,” the Army stated.

As per the press release, He had joined Indian army in the year 2013 and was the sole bread earner of his family and got Married two months before and was spent their days happily with his parents and wife, was posted in Kokernag charlie Company 19 Rashtriya Rifles Sikhli Regiment.

The mortal remains of Lance Naik Nishan Singh will be taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.
