The Indian Army said that it rescued a missing civilian who was trapped under snow-slide along with his vehicle in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official spokesperson said that at around 5 PM today a call was received from Trehgam regarding the trapping of one Adil Karim Lone son of Abdul Karim Lone in snowslide between Patra and Melyal.
The statement reads that the residents requested assistance from the Army in locating and rescuing the missing individual.
“The army unit in Keran immediately swung into action and an army rescue team with rescue equipment was dispatched,” it reads.
It further reads that after moving approximately 1.5 Km in heavy snow, the team found the individual trapped under snow along with his vehicle.
“The individual was pulled out and evacuated to Army Medical Facility at Pharkian wherein he was administered immediate lifesaving & stabilizing treatment.”
It reads that the individual was later evacuated by civil ambulance to government Hospital Kupwara.
“The timely action by Army and Civil authorities and trust reposed by civilians bore fruit as the individual could be rescued and a tragedy was averted,” it reads.
The statement reads that the local population expressed their gratitude and the incident served to reinforce the bonds of trust and interdependence between the Awaam and the Army—(KNO)
