Army Rescues Locals, Organizes Relief for Kund Residents in Kulgam

Kund Bowl witnessed a major spell of snowfall for the past 48 hrs which triggered avalanches during night 7/8 Feb in two villages of Gagarmandu and Antaarnad.

Amidst heavy snowfall, The Army organised a relief patrol the same night and reached the affected villages.

They reassured the civilians and helped the local villagers whose houses were buried under avalanche to settle their families.

Around 35 houses were confirmed to be buried under the avalanche and yet another village was evacuated during the night.

A joint Army and District Administration relief and rescue team was planned during the night. They started opening roads to the affected villages early morning on priority.

By afternoon, link up to the affected villages were complete and people were evacuated to safer places.

Food and fuel for warming was organised jointly by the Army and the District Administration with the bereaved families.

The local populace expressed their deep acknowledgement towards the Army and the Civil Administration for speedy response in their hour of crisis.
