Arrest of Principal, asst prof in corruption case: Court grants police remand, houses being searched

The Special court on Wednesday granted 10 days police remand of Principal and assistant professor to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a corruption case. Houses of both accused were searched by an investigating agency.

Yesterday one professor identified as Tariq Ashai, who is the principal of GDC Pattan, was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of rupees 60,000 at SP College in Srinagar, CNS Reported.

They said that on receipt of the complaint, an FIR was registered, under section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Police Station ACB north Kashmir & investigation was taken up.

During investigation, another Assistant professor (History) of the Degree College Pattan was also arrested in this case and is identified as Professor Imtiyaz Gul Khan, a resident of Wanigam Pattan.

Sources said that both the professors were today produced before Special Judge Anti Corruption Baramulla and were sent to the Police Remand for further investigation.

CNS reported that the houses of both accused are being searched by the investigation agency and the search warrants have been issued by Anti Corruption Court Baramulla.
