As Officials Count DDC Votes, Internet Snapped in South Kashmir

The results for Jammu Kashmir District Development council are being declared on Tuesday, The Counting of votes for 280 seats of District Development Council is currently underway across 20 districts of Jammu Kashmir.

With hundreds of paramilitary troopers deployed across major towns in the valley, the Bhartiya Janta party is leading as per the initial trends in 36 seats at 11 AM.

Among the 280 seats, 140 constituencies are in Jammu Division and 140 are in Kashmir Division.

Nearly 2,200 candidates were in the fray for 280 seats. State Election Commissioner KK Sharma yesterday reviewed preparations and other arrangements for the counting process.

He said the Returning Officers will be in-charge of the counting process in each DDC constituency.

The telecom authorities have snapped mobile internet in the South Kashmir region as a precautionary law and order measure. Pertinently Internet had been done in most phases conducted in the South Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag.

As per reports ten political leaders have also been detained ahead of the election voting day.
