On Tuesday a group of tourists was reportedly attacked in Baisaran area of Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
According to officials, gunshots were reported from Baisaran, a popular meadow above Pahalgam, shortly before noon. Security forces rushed to the area and cordoned it off soon after the incident.
As per details received by The Kashmiriyat, as of now, three tourists and two locals have been rushed to the nearby hospital.
A senior police officer confirmed that the injured tourists have been shifted to a nearby hospital and are receiving treatment.
“Disturbing news coming from Pahalgam where tourists were attacked by terrorists at Baisaran. Just received a distressed call from one of the victims’ wife who is known to me. Requesting HCM @OmarAbdullah Sb, HMLA @altaf_kaloo & @JmuKmrPolice to extend the help immediately,” tweeted Umesh Talashi, a political activist from Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the motive or group involved.
