Authorities Fail to Complete Adijan-Noorabad Bridge in Kulgam 7 Years On

Despite the fact that Seven years have elapsed since the Adijan Noorabad Bridge was approved, the authorities concerned have utterly failed to complete the bridge, leaving the commuters to lurch at large. Pertinently, the Bridge over the Nallah was sanctioned in the year 2014.

Locals of Adijan told The Kashmiriyat that although the funds for the construction of the bridge were released, the work remained incomplete for the last 7 years.

They say that they had approached the concerned authorities several times in the past for the competition of the bridge, the work over which is completely suspended from the years.

The locals said that the construction work was going on at a snail’s pace till 2017 following which the construction came to a grinding halt for unknown reasons.

In absence of a fully constructed bridge, the residents here have constructed temporary wooden bridges several times on their own, which got washed away frequently.

“As soon as the water level increases, the risk in crossing the bridge increases proportionally. In the rainy season, it becomes slippery creating hardships for students, businessmen and others to cross it, thus leaving the whole populace to suffer,” the locals told The Kashmiriyat.

The villages suffering in absence of the bridge include DH Pora, Damhall, Ahmedabad, Khull, Chimer, D.k. Marg, Gandwani, K.b. Pora , Manzgam, And Qasba Khul,Wari Pora.

Meanwhile, the locals have appealed to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Chief Engineer JKPCC to look into the matter at the earliest.
