Authorities seize 3 private vehicles in Sopore for ferrying passengers

Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Baramulla warned private Eco vehicle owners ferrying passengers without permit of strict action if they continue the practice.

An official at the Motor Vehicle Department, Sopore told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a checking drive was launched jointly by the teams from Police and the Motor Vehicles Department Baramulla, during which three vehicles who were ferrying passengers illegally were seized.

The vehicles seized were violating the rules and regulations under the MV Acts and were ferrying the passengers without a permit, the official said.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Baramulla, Muazzam Ali warned the private vehicle (Eco) owners from ferrying the passengers illegally without proper documentation.

Those who are found violating the law will be dealt with strictly besides vehicles will be seized on spot, he said.

The inspection was carried after receiving multiple complaints regarding the use of private vehicles (without permit) as taxis by the general public especially from the main chowk and Shahdargh stands—(KNO)
