The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has identified three eco-fragile zones in Jammu Kashmir, including Dachigam National Park, Thajwas Wildlife Sanctuary, and Overa-Aru Wildlife Sanctuary.
According to a report by Daily Excelsior, to oversee these areas, a committee will be formed, consisting of an ecology and environment expert, a representative from a non-governmental organization focused on environmental conservation, and a biodiversity expert.
According to the notification, no new commercial hotels or resorts will be allowed within one kilometer of the Protected Area boundary or the extent of the Eco-sensitive Zone, whichever is closer.
