Bandipora Public Park becomes safe haven for drug addicts, allege locals

People in Bandipora expressed their anger on Wednesday after a large number of used syringes and empty alcohol bottles were spotted in Nishat park.

The park located in the main town of Bandipora district has turned into a haven for drug addicts and a nuisance for area residents, senior citizens alleged.

A visit to the spot by this reporter also shows a large number of used syringes and alcohol bottles inside the park.

“Every day, I can see a large number of drug addicts in the park. I feel disappointed that it has turned into a den for drug addicts,” a senior citizen of the locality told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Another citizen, who sometimes enters the park, said he was stopped from going there after seeing empty wine bottles there.

A senior official said that he will look into the matter and take stern action against those found involved—(KNO)
