
A top commander of Lashkar e Taiba was killed during the ongoing encounter in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that three more militants are believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter in the Pariswani area of Baramulla.
“01 (militant) of LeT killed. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Operation in progress,” police said in a tweet.
Earlier the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police had launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of militants in the Baramulla area, during which the encounter ensued.
One more local militant commander namely Hilal Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Sheeri Baramulla associated with Lashkar e Taiba is believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter.
Earlier the Jammu Kashmir police Thursday claimed to have achieved a big success by killing top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Yousuf Kantroo in an ongoing encounter at northern district of Baramulla.
