Baramulla students, teachers asked to contribute ‘voluntarily’ for Har Ghar Tiranga campaign

The Zonal Education officer In Nehapora area of Pattan in Baramulla Kashmir has directed students in school students to ‘voluntarily’ deposit rupees 10 for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

In a communique sent by the ZEO Nelapora which was accessed by The Kashmiriyat, the official stated, “Complying with CEO Baramulla’s zoom meeting instructions I request all heads of schools(both govt and private) to collect ten rupees each student and fifty rupees each employee, hundred rupees each in case of gazetted employees(headmasters, lecturers and principals). The collected money shall be handed over to the concerned PCO. PCO in turn shall deposit the amount at Zonal Education Office latest by 22/7/2022 at 3 p.m. For any delay, the responsibility lies with PCOs.”

The Divisional Commissioner of the Kashmir region, PK Pole said that the campaign was to instill patriotism among people. “Nobody will be forced to pay. If anyone voluntarily wants to pay, he/she can. It is not a compulsion,” he said.

The district admin of Baramulla had issued a circular (dated 20 July, 2022) stating that the Lieutenant Governor has taken a review meeting regarding Har Ghar Tiranga on 19-07-2022 which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla through video conference.

“A comprehensive discussion was held on the successful implementation of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ at the District level. In the meeting, various directions were passed to Deputy Commissioners and other district officers for making all necessary arrangements about hosting of flags at individual, societal and organizational level ultimately paving the path for hoisting of National flag at each household in the District. In pursuance of these directions, a subsequent preliminary meeting with the present District officers was held by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla,” the order read.

The order further added that it was “decided” that all contribution from officials and non-officials on “voluntary” basis be done on following pattern:

Gazetted employees: Rs.100/- each, Non-gazetted employees: Rs.50/ each, Self Help Groups: Rs.20 /each Self Help Group, College students: Rs.20/-each, Schools Students: Rs.10/- each, Beneficiaries/ trainees of various schemes: Rs.10/each.

All Heads of Institutions / Departments/ Banks and other District Officers shall made collection within 05 days positively and have the responsibility to deposit the funds in the Account No. / Relevant Head of account to be provided by District Treasury Officer Baramulla, the order of DC Baramulla read.

Earlier Jammu Kashmir admin had said, “To instill patriotic fervour among citizenry this Independence Day, the culture and tourism ministry will launch ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under which people will be exhorted to hoist the national flag over their houses on August 15.”

The admin stated that the initiative will be part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), celebration and commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence.
