‘Beaten by son-in-law’: Police launch probe after woman dies under mysterious conditions in Pulwama

A 62-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances at her son-in-law’s residence in Gudoora, Pulwama, on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Khurshi Begum, wife of the late Abdur Rahman Dar of Looswani Newa, collapsed at her son-in-law’s house.

According to an official, there are allegations that the woman was assaulted by her son-in-law, Mohammad Aslam Thoker, son of Ali Mohammad Thoker.

She was rushed to District Hospital Pulwama, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Police have taken custody of the body and initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of death.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama, P.D. Nitya, stated that initial examination revealed no visible injury marks.

“The allegations against the son-in-law are being investigated, and further details will be revealed as the inquiry progresses,” the SSP added.
