Biometric machines at several government offices in the Sub-Division Pattan of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have been allegedly lying defunct.
Sources told the news agency CNS that a number of government offices in Sub-Division Pattan have ignored the biometric machines’ non-operation and are acting with complete disregard to the employees’ office-reporting and leaving timings.
They said that the biometric machines have been lying defunct for some quite time and were left there without getting repaired or replaced.
“The decorum of the offices have also been disrupted in the backdrop of the biometric machines’ dysfunction. The employees are also capitalising on the defunct biometric machines by reaching late to office and leaving early,” they said.
It was alleged that the DDOs have been releasing the salaries of the employees without taking into account their attendances after the biometric machines went out of operation.
They further added that the senior officers have been treating the issue with “levity” and are violating the government order, which makes the use of biometric machines indispensable. (CNS)
