BJP discourages political process in J&K: Mehbooba Mufti ‘Modi destroyed secular fabric of India

Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destroying the secular fabric of the country, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that there is no future for the youth of J&K.

Indian Prime Minister Modi was in Pali village of Samba in Jammu on Sunday where he participated in the celebration of the National Panchayati Raj Day and addressed ‘Gram Sabhas’ across the country.

In his address, the Prime Minister said that the youth will not see the miseries that their parents and grandparents have seen in the past.

“What is this that the Prime Minister is saying that youth will not see miseries that their parents and grandparents in Jammu and Kashmir. What miseries we have seen. We used to have our own Prime Ministers. There was a special status for us. Our grandparents enjoyed the law of land to the tiller. Our grandparents were better off than today’s youth,” Mehbooba Mufti as per news agency Kashmir News Trust said adding that who are the youngsters that the Prime Minister was talking to (in his address), “those that have been slapped with UAPA as if the PSA was less severe?”

She said the mineral and natural resources of Jammu and Kashmir are being looted. “J&K supplies power to whole country but yearns for electricity itself. In Jammu the liquor shop contracts have been assigned to outsiders. Our land is on sale. The stamp duty has been slashed by 50 per cent to facilitate plundering of land in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mehbooba Mufti said adding that Narendra Modi is silent about the atrocities inflicted upon the minority Muslims in India.

“Muslims are targeted in India. Even, in Jahangirpuri, the courtyard of PM Modi, we saw how Muslim houses were bulldozed but the PM maintained silence,” she said adding that Muslims are dejected and feeling so low.

Mehbooba Mufti accused BJP of undermining the importance of the political process. “BJP is not giving space to any political party. It discourages the political process. Security has been withdrawn from political leaders under threat,” she said adding that she doesn’t know when elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNT)
