BJP leader, 21 others arrested for allegedly murdering a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh

In connection with the suspected murder of a Muslim man in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday, a Bhartiya Janata Party leader and 21 other unnamed individuals were arrested by police.

Ashok Kumar Jaiswal, who serves as the local municipality’s head, was accused of a culpable homicide that did not amount to murder in violation of Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code.

The deceased man was identified as Mustqueem (55).

The incident happened on Tuesday after a dispute between two groups started when a goat belonging to Mustqueem wandered into his neighbour Sandeep’s home, according to the police.

Rajesh Bharti, an additional superintendent of police, claimed that later that evening Jaiswal and others reportedly broke into Mustqueem’s house in the Katra Bazar neighbourhood and began beating them.

Mustqueem died as a result of internal wounds sustained during the attack, but his two sons and daughters also sustained injuries, according to PTI.

“The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital and their conditions are stable,” Bharti said.

According to the police, seven persons have been taken into custody in relation to the crime. To prevent any unforeseen incident, more forces were also stationed in the region.
