BJP leaders face heat from Kashmiri Pandits at cremation ground in Jammu

The Kashmiri Pandit community on Friday lashed out at the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Jammu Kashmir President, Ravinder Raina and former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta at the cremation ground in Jammu, where Sunil Bhatt was cremated.

Videos from the incident show Kashmiri Pandits confronting the BJP leaders over the targeted killing of Sunil Bhatt, a Kashmiri Pandit who was posted at the Tehsil office in Budgam’s Chadoora area.

Angry Pandits accused the Bhartiya Janta Party of not doing anything for the Kashmiri Pandits. “You have done nothing for Kashmiri Pandits. It was the last Government that has done whatever has been done so far. Count us one single thing that you have done for Kashmiri Pandits,” a member of the protesting Pandits can be heard asking the BJP leaders.

They said that the Bhartiya Janta Party has done nothing to safeguard Kashmiri Pandits in the valley. “The situation has gotten so worse that militants barged inside the Government office and killed a member of their community,” he said.

To this Kavinder Gupta can be heard confronting the protesters. “It is only us, Will Mehbooba Mufti come here, Wil Farooq Abdullah come and address your issues?” he can be heard asking the protesting members of the community before leaving the spot.

The Kashmiri Pandits also demanded the shifting of all Kashmiri Pandit employees to Jammu and also to create special safe houses for them in Kashmir.
