The sarpanch who shot at by unknown gunmen in the Nillow area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has succumbed to his injuries.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected militants barged inside the house of one BJP Sarpanch on Friday evening fired upon a sarpanch in the Oudura Nillow, causing injuries to him.
The Sarpanch identified Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Mohammed Abdullah Mir, a resident of Odoura was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.
He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
As per officials the deceased Shabir Ahmed was a sarpanch of Bhartiya Janta Party. His wife is also panch of ward 3 Halqa Odoura.
On March 9, Militants barged inside the house of a Sarpanch Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat, and shot him dead at the Khonmoh area in the outskirts of Srinagar.
On March 2, an independent panchayat member, Mohammad Yaqub Dar, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
