BJP Welcomes the New Amendment to Domicile Law in Jammu Kashmir

The Bhartiya Janta Party has welcomed the decision of the Jammu Kashmir administration to amend the new domicile law in the region.

BJP state president Ravinder Raina said that it is a welcome step while targeting the leadership of Congress, PDP and National Conference. “It has been 70 years that the regional groups have been discriminating women by depriving them of the rights to land.”

Speaking on the restoration of Article 370 he said, “the parties that are speaking of the restoration of Special status are the enemies of the women and people of Jammu Kashmir.”

The Administration under the control of the central government amended the act that only granted the residents to buy and purchase land in Jammu Kashmir. The new domicile law said that it was necessary to live in Jammu Kashmir for 15 years in order to become a native.

The New amendment has also given them the right to be a native and possess land rights to men who are married to women who are Kashmiris.
