BJP will protect Public Safety Act from repeal, says BJP Minister

Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament, Anurag Singh Thakur, delivered strong remarks against the Gandhi and Abdullah families, accusing them of supporting “terrorists and separatists” in Jammu Kashmir.

Speaking at a press conference in Jammu, Thakur emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not allow these political leaders to pursue what he called “divisive agendas.”

He stated, “Under their rule, Jammu and Kashmir was a land of conflict and instability. Today, we are witnessing peace, development, and progress, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.”

Thakur praised Modi’s governance, crediting the region’s transformation to the Prime Minister’s commitment to the people of Kashmir.

He noted, “This is not just a political shift; it’s a result of PM Modi’s dedication to the people. Kashmir is now moving in a new direction.”

Thakur’s most pointed criticism was directed at the Gandhi-Abdullah families’ proposal to repeal the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu & Kashmir. He warned, “They are eager to release separatists and terrorists, stripping away the hard-earned rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir.”

The BJP leader reaffirmed his party’s stance against terrorism and separatism. “The Modi government has always been firm on this issue. Why do the Gandhi-Abdullah families want to free the enemies of the nation and bring back turmoil to Jammu Kashmir?” he asked.

Accusing the two political families of siding with “drug traffickers, terrorists, and stone-pelters,”

Thakur highlighted how they enjoyed privileged lifestyles while depriving the region of its potential.

He pointed out that Omar Abdullah, who had previously said he would not run for elections, is now contesting two constituencies but “struggling in both.”

Thakur also underlined the benefits to marginalized communities following the abrogation of Article 370, stating that groups like Valmikis, Gurkhas, and Gujjar-Bakarwals have gained rights and reservations.

He criticized opposition parties, claiming they wanted to take away these newly earned rights.

Reflecting on the Congress’s history in Kashmir, Thakur remarked that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi only visited the region for vacations after the revocation of Article 370.

He added, “Now they want to restore Article 370, which would only bring back the fires of terrorism and separatism.”

In conclusion, Thakur expressed confidence in the BJP’s success in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that the people of Jammu Kashmir were no longer swayed by what he called the “empty promises” of dynastic politics.
