Girish Chandar Murmu, the First lieutenant Governor of Jammu Kashmir, on 5th August, yesterday resigned from his post.
The Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesman, in a statement, said, “The resignation of GC Murmu has been accepted.”
Adding further, the statement said, “The President is pleased to announce Shri Manoj Sinha, as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Manoj Sinha is the former union minister and a senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh. The 61-year-old, Sinha is from Mohanpura of Ghazipur district of eastern UP and has been actively involved in working for the backward villages of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
He has been elected to Lok sabha twice, 1996, and 1999.
