Bloody Sunday- 10 Including 7 Civilians Killed in Kashmir

The civilian death toll in Kulgam gunfight has mounted to seven after two more civilians succumbed to injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar, while as 43 civilians have been injured in the clashes at the gunfight site at Laroo area of district Kulgam.

Some of the dead civilians have been identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad, Mansoor Ahmad, Talib Maqbool of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Denew Bogund, Aqib Ahmed and Irshad Ahmad of Shurat.

Thousands of people reached Kulgam to attend the funeral prayers of 10 Kashmiris killed on Bloody Sunday/ Photo Zafar Dar- The Kashmiriyat.

Three civilians had succumbed to injuries at DH Kulgam, while as 9 were refered to SMHS for advanced treatment out of whom Two succumbed to their injuries at SMHS.

The two who succumbed at DH Kulgam were injured in a blast at gunfight site while the ones who succumbed at SMHS had received firearm injuries during clashes.

Three more civilians succumbed to their injuries in Srinagar Hospitals in the day.

Three Militants have been Killed in the ongoing encounter  between Militants and Government Forces in Laroo area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District in the wee hours of Sunday

Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Police and  CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation.

The  Militants killed in the gunfight were identified as Zubair Lone Ahmed Lone, a resident of Awahatoo in Kulgam who was affiliated to  Jaish e Muhammad, Yazil Makroo @Abu Musa who was a resident of Arwani in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District and Shahid ul Islam Son of Abdul Rashid Tantray was a resident of Wangam area in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. He is also a part of Jaish e Muhammad.

A spontaneous shutdown was observed in Pulwama, Kulgam and  Islamabad (Anantnag)  areas of the southern district to mourn the killing of Militants and Civilians is Kulgam District earlier on Sunday.

All shops and business establishments were closed while public transport remained thin on roads.

The authorities also suspended Mobile internet and mobile voices calls in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district as soon as the news of the encounter spread in the area.

Thousands of people reached Kulgam and Shopian Districts to attend the funeral of three Militants and seven civilians killed in the encounter that triggered early morning on Sunday in Laroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that people in large numbers including women shouting high pitched pro independence and pro Militancy slogans reached the natives of slain Militants to attend their funeral prayers.
