A few days ago, the photo of a teen age boy joining Militant ranks and carrying an AK 47 on his shoulder had surfaced on the social media.

The photo was of a 15 year old boy, Mudasir Bilal Parray from the Mir Mohalla area of Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District.

Mudasir Ahmed Parray had reportedly joined Militants in September, after he went missing from his home on August 31, Sources confirmed to The Kashmiriyat.

Mudasir is student of 9th grade and his family had lodged a missing report in the Police Station Hajin, however he could not be found.

In the early 90s when an armed insurgency erupted against Indian Government, ten Militants were killed from Mir Mohalla, the native of Mudasir and Parray Mohalla, the native of Saqib Sheikh.

Hajin is the native to slain commander of counter insurgents, Kuka Parray, a former folk singer who led a murderous campaign against Militants and made the area, Militancy free.

The moment of change in Hajin first came during the 2008 protests. Even though the strong-arm crowd control measures of the police contained the protests, they agonised large sections of the population.

The area which was once strongly held by counter insurgents is again seeing a revival of Militancy as more Kashmiri youth have been joining the Militant ranks since the killing of Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016.

More than 165 locals have joined Militancy in 2018 which includes a healthy number of scholars, engineers, Ph.D and M.Phil scholars.

At the houses of both Mudasir and Saqib Prayers were also held for patience to the Militants who was trapped in a Srinagar residential house, After eighteen hours, the gunfight was over, Mudasir and Saqib Sheikh had been killed along with their foreign associate

Their bodies have been handed over to their families in Hajin around 7:45 pm  in utter disbelief, when their bodies reached their native.

“Mudasir and Saqib apart from living nearby also were very good friends, they also left their home together and spend most of their time together,” Mohammed Rafiq, a neighbour of Saqib told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that they were friends in life and turned out to be friends in death, they were neighbours in life and will be neighbours in death, he added.

Women burst into wailing and the whole area reverberated with pro Freedom slogans and people from many far areas had come to get a last glimpse of the fallen Militants.

Both will be laid to rest tomorrow at 9 am in their native area in North Kashmir’s Hajin township. (The Kashmiriyat)
