‘Cannot sit back with our people suffering’, Protests staged against ‘state land’ eviction order in Kishtwar, Rajouri

Protests were taken out in the Rajouri and Kishtwar areas f Jammu Kashmir against the Land eviction drive of the Jammu Kashmir administration.

Hundreds of Civil Society members and party workers under the chairmanship of Th Yashu Vardhan Singh, Additional Spokesperson and In-charge Kalakote constituency JKNC assembled near Bus Stand Kalakote and raised slogans against the draconian order of J&K Govt. DDC and BDC members also joined the protest.

In Kishtwar, hundreds of people led by the workers of the Democratic Azad party staged a protest asking the admin to roll back the order.

Talking to reporters in Kalakote, Yashu Vardhan criticized the government for rendering the people homeless by carrying out the anti-encroachment drives. He said that the incumbent J&K Administration has crossed all the limits on all fronts thus creating miserable conditions for the people who have been left to fend for themselves. He expressed this in response to the Government’s directions to all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure 100% removal of encroachments from State land including Roshni and Kahcharai by the end of current month and submit compliance report.

During the protest, DDC Kalakote Anita Thakur along with DDC Dangri Th Rameshwar Singh, DDC Moghla Shamim Akther, DDC Moghla Surekha Kotwal, DDC Dangri Tashem Akther and District President Rajouri Rural Ashok Sharma, Sarpanchs, Panches and senior party leaders submitted Memorandum to the Teshildar Kalakote against the eviction drive initiated by the administration of Jammu Kashmir.

“We want this order to be revoked immediately. We can’t keep watching the sufferings of our people,” they added.
