Case registered against MC Chairman Langate over illegal Soil excavation

Jammu Kashmir police on Wednesday filed a case against Municipal Committee Chairman Langate in northern Kashmir for illegally excavating soil from the premises of a government school, officials said here.

The officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that soon after Municipal Chairman, Langate Shahnawaz Abdullah was found responsible for illegally excavating soil from the premises of a government school, the police shortly took cognizance of the matter and filed an FIR against him.

He said that the police request the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal soil excavations as it is a violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.

Regarding the same matter, the Department of Geology & Mining has also ordered a probe into the matter and the MC Chairman was slapped with a fine of 1.05 lakh.

Meanwhile, the locals said that illegal smuggling of soil excavation by the same accused was going on there for the past one week.

Earlier, after banning such activity the several officers including officials of revenue, police and administration visited the area and warned no one will be allowed to excavate the soil, however a few days later smugglers again started their activity—(KNO)
