CASO Launched in At Least 18 Villages of South Kashmir, Intense Clashes Erupt

A massive cordon and search operation is underway in at least eighteen villages of Southern Kashmir which has lately emerged as a hot bed of Militancy.

Officials informed The Kashmiriyat that a CASO has been jointly launched by three battalions of rashtriya Rifles including 44RR, 55 RR and 53 RR, two Battalions of CRPF, 183 BN and 184 BN and Jammu Kashmir Police.

The operation has been launched following inputs about presence of Militant groups in the area, officials said.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Bon-pora and Sheikh-pora of Muran, Rohmu, Bellow, Rajpora, Goosu, Mitrigam, Frasipora, Shangerpora, Zagigam, Hanjan, Kamrazipura, Mirgund, Thokerpora, Kachepura, Putrigam, Dadoora are among the 18 Villages put under the massive cordon and Search Operation.

Meanwhile clashes erupted in the Muran area as forces laid a siege around the area when scores of youth hit the streets.

“They came out in hundreds and started throwing stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling,” Sources said.

A Massive search operation was underway in houses, Orchards and on roads when this report was filed.
