CASO launched in Shopian area after militants escape from Nowgam

A cordon and search operation was launched in the Ganzham area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Earlier, militants had escaped from an encounter in the Check e Nowgam area of Shopian during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, where three Government Force personnel had been injured.

Later on Thursday afternoon joint forces including 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu Kashmir Police in Ganzham Shopian- located next to Check e Nowgam.

The operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. “The entry and exit points of the area have been sealed and a search operation is going on,” Sources said.
