The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an order to re-verify the SIM of subscribers holding beyond nine connections across India, six connections in the case of Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Assam, and to disconnect in case of non-verification. The subscribers will be given the option to choose the connection they want to retain and deactivate the rest of the connections, according to the order issued on December 7. "If during the data analytics carried out by DoT, it is found that an individual subscriber is having more than nine mobile connections (six in the case of J&K, NE and Assam LSAs) across all the TSPs (telecom service providers), all the mobile connections will be flagged for re-verification," the DoT order said. In a significant development, the Government of JK has directed the SICOP authorities to hand over the custodianship and operations of Pashmina raw material bank to the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom (DH&H) Kashmir. Petrol and diesel prices increased for the fifth consecutive day on Sunday to touch record high levels across the country. In Srinagar the petrol prices have surpassed 112 rupees a litre. With a hike of 35 paisa a litre, the price of petrol in Delhi rose to its highest-ever level of Rs 109.34 a litre. The price of diesel also saw a hike by 35 paisa and took the fuel’s rate to Rs 98.07 per litre in the national capital. Mumbai also reported a surge in fuel prices as compared to yesterday. The petrol in retail cost stands at Rs 115.51 per litre whereas diesel costs Rs 106.23 per litre today in Mumbai. As per a report by Business Line, Adani Logistics Ltd is shuttering operations at its rail-linked Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Kilaraipur, in Ludhiana.
