Government Wednesday named a Primary School in honor of a slain policeman who was the security guard of government gunman turned politician Kuka Parrey in north Kashmir’s Bandipora. The school is located at Bonikhan Hajin and was known as Government Primary School Bonikhan. A function that was presided by the Naib Tehsildar Altaf Hussain was held in the school and it was re-named as ‘Martry Shri Zahoor Ahmed Government Primary School’. Kathua: Teacher allegedly assaults student for writing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on blackboard

A teacher was arrested on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a student who wrote "Jai Shri Ram" on a blackboard in Kathua. As per news reports, the teacher Farooq Ahmed entered the classroom to find Jai Shri Ram slogan written on the blackboard. "When he saw the slogan, he enquired and upon finding a student had written it, he started assaulting the student," reports said. Later, he allegedly took the student to the Principal Mohammad Hafiz's room, where the two beat the student mercilessly. As per Police the teacher, Mohammad Farooq, has been arrested. In continuation of renaming public places, and educational institutes, the Jammu Kashmir admin on Saturday renamed the Government Primary school in Panzath area of Qazigund. A grand event had been called on the renaming occasion which was attended by ZEO Qazigund, Headmaster of the said institute, Auqaf committee members, SHO Qazigund along with others. The school was renamed after ASI Abdul Rashid Shah, a resident of Panzath, Wanpora, who died in the line of duty on August 28, 2017 at Mehandi Kadal Anantnag. Dr. Irfan Sofi, the Principal Investigator of the project, and his research team will assess the extent to which Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme has helped in reducing the consumption of solid fuels for cooking, and evaluate the health benefits of the same for women particularly in rural areas of Jammu Kashmir.
