Keeping in view the increasing weather conditions, School Education Department Sunday amended the previous announcement for summer vacations for Pre-Primary and Primary classes of Kashmir division. Earlier on Saturday, the department has announced summer vacation upto 12th standard for all government and recognized private schools from July-01 to July-10. However, in a fresh communique, it has said that the Pre-Primary and Primary classes of Kashmir division shall observer summer vacation from June-26. Amid heat wave, the Directorate of School Education has decided to commence with summer vacation from July—01 in winter zones of Kashmir division. As per an order issued by DSEK, of which a copy is available with The Kashmiriyat, the DSEK said, "It is hereby ordered that all the Government Educational Institutions and recognized private Schools upto higher secondary level functioning in the Kashmir Division shall observe summer vacation w.e.f 1st July 2023 to 10th July, 2023." The prevailing heat wave in various parts of Kashmir Division may pose a risk at times to the health of the school-going Students, the directorate of school education has said in its latest circular. Therefore, to combat the ill effects of the heat wave, the heads of all Educational Institutions (Government as well as Private) are advised to adhere to certain guidelines which include conducting of the a "brief" morning assembly at a spot where students are not exposed to direct sunlight. "Morning assembly should be brief and conducted in such an area (or in classrooms) where students are not exposed to direct sunlight. The administration has taken over a religious seminary, Jamiat-ul-Salehat, where more than 300 female students are studying, in Ashia Nagar area of Bhatindi in Jammu, reported ETV Bharat. As per the report, the seminary (Madrassa) building has been handed over to the School Education Department by the state government.
