The Jammu Kashmir administration has announced that the students, who could not appear in the recently held Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023 will be given an opportunity to take admission in subjects and colleges of their choice within Jammu Kashmir. Principal Secretary, Education, Alok Kumar said that the CUET, as per the NEP 2020, is a standardized entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) that aims to streamline the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses being offered by universities across India. He said that a total of 87309 (Eighty-seven thousand three hundred nine) unique candidates had registered from Jammu Kashmir for the CUET (UG) 2023. National Testing Agency (NTA) has on Tuesday declared the results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2023. The students can check their results at the official website or login here after 10 PM. Upon the announcement of the NEET result, qualified candidates will be able to participate in the centralised counselling, conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 15 per cent All India Quota seats and 85 per cent state quota seats by respective state authorities.

In J-K, Hindi language has higher takers than Kashmiri in class 12th exams

The results of class 12th that were declared on Friday afternoon have displayed disappointing figures for the Kashmiri language lovers. Urdu had the highest takers with 37252 students opting for it,  72 per cent of whom have passed. As per the figures accessed by The Kashmiriyat, a total of 1,27,636 candidates had enrolled for the exams in which 82,441 successfully qualified. The results show that 10,198 students chose Hindi, with a 72 percent pass rate. Urdu remained the top choice with 37,252 students, 72 percent of whom passed. In Dogri, 98 percent of 251 students passed, and Punjabi saw a 96 percent pass rate among 96 students. The results of class 12th have been declared for the Kashmir valley. On Friday afternoon, the Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education declared the much-awaited results for class 10+2. Around 1,27,636 students had appeared in exams throughout J&K out of which 82441 have qualified it. The exams for the class were held in the months of March and April. ‘Students can wear Abaya’: After outrage, Srinagar school issues order allowing Abaya

Srinagar School Vishwa Bharti, which earlier barred students from entering the school wearing Abaya has issued an order allowing students to wear Abaya inside the premises. In an order, accessed by The Kashmiriyat, the school has said, "That it has been running on the social media that female students have been directed not to wear Abaya (Long Robe) which is totally baseless and misrepresented." Principal Secretary Jammu Kashmir School Education Department Alok Kumar Thursday said that results of class 10th and 12th examination will be declared by the 2nd week of June. Talking to reporters here, Alok Kumar, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), they will announce the results in accordance to the timeline they have set. Set up in 1965, Government school in Handwara continues to operate from rented building

Middle school established in the year 1965 continues to function from a rented building since 1999 at Zachaldara in Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. However, a new building has been constructed which is yet to be handed over to the department. Schools to function from 9AM to 3 PM in Srinagar

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Wednesday changed the school timing within the municipal limits of Srinagar from June-01. In an order by the director school education department, the new timing will extend to all government and private schools. “Consequent upon the approval conveyed by the Administrative Department, all government and private recognized schools within the municipal limits of Srinagar city shall observe school timings from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM w.e.f June-01,” the order said.

Over 2600 teachers in JK have ‘below secondary’ level qualification

In Jammu Kashmir more than 2600 teachers are having below secondary level qualification and are teaching students at all levels. Ironically, among the total number of such teachers with below secondary level qualifications, over 1700 are teaching the primary level classes.
